"Education for Global Citizenship: A Guide for Schools" - created by Oxfam, this resource not only provides guidelines for the development of global citizenship curriculum (knowledge and understanding, skills, and values) at all grade levels, as well as suggested activities that foster global citizenship and competencies.
iEarn - provides students with opportunities to connect, engage, and collaborate with students around the world in a safe, controlled environment. Students can work digitally to create and implement collaborative experiences that transcend cultures and borders. iEarn published the "New Teachers Guide for Online Collaboration and Global Projects", which guides teachers in the creation, implementation, and assessment of international project-based lessons and unit plans. Center for Civic Education - this California based organization provides a number of civic education-centered project based learning opportunities for students at all grade levels. Project Citizen encourages students to identify problems and pose solutions within their own community; We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution asks students of all levels to engage in an in-depth and real-world understanding of the US Constitution in order to create informed engaged citizens and 21st century leaders. Civitas International encourages international students to develop notions of citizenship and constitutionalism, all through the development of real-world projects that solve local and national problems. Omprakash - provides students and schools the opportunity to participate in international volunteer projects, all of which could be easily linked to service-learning projects that connect content acquisition with taking action. The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting - helps teachers build unit plans that spread global awareness and that challenge students to use 21st century skills and tools to better understand global issues. The Choices Program - administered by Brown University, the Choices Program provides lesson and unit plans, and several digital resources, that help teachers implement global competencies, and allow students to become more engaged citizens. Historical and current topics include, but are not limited to, The United Nations, The Crisis in Ukraine, Colonization and Imperialism in Africa, and the Conflict in Syria. Primary Source - provides a series of online lesson and unit plans relating to history and humanities education, including, but not limited to, topics such as Modern Afghanistan, Women's Roles in China, and Human-Environment Interactions in India. The World Affairs Challenge - encourages middle and high school students to tackle world issues and provide meaningful solutions, in a forum that is both competitive and collaborative. Global Issues - includes hundreds of articles relating to social, political, and environmental world issues that can be used as the basis for lesson and unit plans, as well as the foundation of student research for global education project based learning. Global Nomads Group - helps teachers and students connect and communicate with students throughout the world to collaborate on a wide variety of projects. The Global Nomads Group helps educators and teachers implement 21st century technology to enhance and aid global competencies. Offers a YouTube Channel containing videos regarding global issues that can be used in the classroom or for flipped classroom assignments. |
